What I Have Learned From Being Away

Well, as you might have noticed, I haven’t posted in a while. I blame the summer months and an increase of responsibility at my 9-5 job, but that is no excuse. Here I am trying to build a blogging network, and I forget the most important rule of all: blog.
What I Have Learned from my Time Off
I have to say that I learned a lot. It is interesting to see what happened to my blog since I have left.
One, the blog is still here! Not that I expected any different, but at times during my hiatus I felt that these blogs of mine have been missing. They were out of my mind, which was filled with summer happenings and my 9-5 job. However, now that I have re-awaken my desire to blog, here they are just waiting for me.
Two, I have noticed that I have lost all but a few of my readers. This is important to note, because now I am basically at floor zero of creating this blogging network. Hopefully, my name is out in the blogging world, and with a few twitter posts and comments on other blogs I frequent the readers will come back. Readers are a blogs lifeline and I and floating without a life-jacket.
Three, I can take a step back and re-evaluate what blogs I am running. I have to admit that my The Bread Bible and I blog has been much more of an undertaking than I thought. Also, I have seen that Drink Some More has become very disjointed and not really what I intended it to be. So I am zero for two with blogs in my blogging network. I still think they have potential, but they need to be re-focused.
Changes to Come
I think Drink Some More is going to be an alcohol only blog. I really tried to force as much beverage reviews I could into it, and it just became a mess. Luckily I think that I can move forward with Drink Some More as an alcohol review blog and get rid of the other stuff. That means that I am going to loose my coffee reviewing forum, but coffee is something I love so I am going to make an attempt at another blog. I have a few domains in my portfolio that revolve around coffee, so stay tuned to which one I am going to use. Also, I think I am going to bring on a second writer for Drink Some More; my room mate enjoys to imbibe in a drink or two as much as I do so making him a part-time writer is a logical step. This way I can boost the post count and keep quality material coming out.
Another thing that is in the works is a new website devoted to Beer! FindBeer.INFOis going to be a searchable database of beer information. Think of it as a child of wikipedia and ratebeer. I have been wanting to release this to the wild for a while, and I am now taking names for an alpha release. Head over the FindBeer.INFO and sign up!
As for The Bread Bible and I, I think this is going to go on break until the winter months where I can bake more without needing the A/C blasting. I really enjoy the idea of having a blog follow me through my lessons on baking, but I think there is a time and a place and I really should get Drink Some More up and running.
And lastly, I think I am going to start up a financial blog called Spender2Saver.com. Here I will give an account of my financial problems and hints and tips for other readers. I think this is going to be a strong market in this tough economic times; hopefully it’s a winner.
